March 2, 2010 — Our second day in Saguaro NP, today we visited the Rincon Mountain District which is the east region of the park; east of Tuscon, AZ.
We stopped in at the Rincon Mountain Visitor Center to get some information and Laura’s NP stamp in her book before setting out on the 8-mile Cactus Forest Drive Loop. From here we hiked a few trails, including one, the Freeman Homestead Trail, which lead out to the place that was first settled in this region. By far our favorite trail was the Douglas Spring Trail which was a 3-mile hike up to Bridal Wreath Falls. Here we enjoyed a trail lunch picnic and some quiet reflection time before crossing the stream and hiking back down. Ah, another lovely day in the Sonoran Desert….
