Lunch in Little Rock

Caroline L. was daughter Claire’s college roommate; she is now living in and working in Little Rock.  How great it was to see her!  She chose a fabulous restaurant, Flying Fish, where we enjoyed an awesome lunch and a terrific catch-up with her.  Following our lunch we walked around the riverfront area a little bit before getting back on the road.  What a great little town this is!  Neither of us had been in Little Rock before but we were both quite impressed — great food, friendly people, and a nice little downtown all along the Arkansas River.

Thanks, Caroline, for taking the time to meet up with us, and hello, Dan and Kandy! We understand you’re following along on our Out There adventures.

We are looking forward to seeing all of you again at the happy wedding festivities coming up in just a few months!

January 2 — As we are making our way back down to Charley in San Antonio, we were able to visit another friend along the way, which we always enjoy.

Fred and Laura! Hello from Kansas! Have been catching up on your blogging. Don’t have any national parks but do have a national grassland preserve near by. Did have a reminder of our drive in Alaska, we have had six swans hanging around here the last few days. Keep up the good work. Kerry

    1. Hi Kerry & Jerilee — Happy New Year! We’re so happy to hear from you and happy to know you’re still following along with us. We have been studying the map and determining when we make our way to Kansas and will be reaching out to you once we have an itinerary. You’re right, while there are no national parks, you do have Fort Larned National Historic Site along the Santa Fe Trail, and the grasslands that you mentioned — they’re on our list.

Six swans… how wonderful! We remember, too, the bumpy but terrific drive we took together in Alaska and the swan family we saw along the way. Having six swans come visit you at the farm is VERY cool!

We hope the harvest was good for you and that you were able to enjoy a little down time with your daughters and granddaughters during the holiday season before spring planting. Oh wait — with the livestock you don’t really get downtime, do you?!? I guess it’s time for the two of you to consider another vacation!

We’ll be in touch when we’re planning Kansas. Until then, take care and be well.
      Best,
      –Laura & Fred
