Goodbye Yoopers!

Mackinaw City – known for their fudge & ice cream, and apparently their BIG WIENERS!!!

Driving over the Mackinaw Bridge from the U.P. to lower Michigan

Sunday, July 27 – Leaving the U.P. – crossed over the Mackinac Bridge… will visit Aunt Carolyn & Uncle Bob on the shores of Lake Huron for a few days, then make our way to Ohio and our next National Park destination – Cuyahoga Falls N.P.

  1. Thanks for the very nice comment, Joanna – it means a lot coming from a genuine Yooper and I’m glad to know that someone besides my mother is actually reading my musings! ;) Seriously, it would have been a wonderful place to grow up. We are definitely coming back – decided we need to make the Circle Tour around Lake Superior someday.

    1. P.S. We didn’t eat at The Antlers, but we did have our best breakfast yet while being Out There – the old (since 1945!) Goetz’s Lock View Restaurant. You know it’s got to be good if it has survived that long!

  2. The Soo is where I was lucky enough to grow up. We used to go to the Locks, find an innocent tourist and ask them “where are the locks”. We got a kick out of their enthusiastic responses. As I got older and more mature, I would go to the Locks to watch the faces of the visitors and learned not to take for granted what a magical place I grew up in.

Did you eat at the Antlers?
