Fred’s Wrangell-St. Elias National Park and Preserve

Here are a few photos from our visit to Wrangell-St. Elias NP and Preserve.  At over 13 million square acres, it is pretty much impossible to capture it unless you can do so from the air, which we unsuccessfully attempted to do on two different occasions, but it was wonderful to take in the many mountains and glaciers as we drove through the area.  One outing that we were able to undertake was to the old mining town of Kennecott.  After a 60-mile ride on pretty rough roads, we spent a couple of days touring the weathered buildings of the mining operation and hiked to the Kennecott Glacier.  And oh yes, we saw a bit of wildlife along the way.
