Cheers to lasting friendships!

Fred & Jerry - a toast to cocktail in with friends

Saturday, August 2 — One of the things we most looked forward to while being Out There was visiting friends and family members along our route.  Two such friends we wanted to see are here in northeast Ohio.

Kim C and I met in 2000 when my company became part of Compaq; we became fast friends and have enjoyed our friendship ever since.  Jerry A and I met back in 2008 and we get together as we can.

Tonight we planned to go picnic and enjoy the Cleveland Orchestra playing Rachmaninoff at the Blossom Music Center right here in Cuyahoga Valley National Park – what a unique way to enjoy a national park, right?  Unfortunately, the weather didn’t cooperate so we went to Plan B.  The two of them met us here at Charley so they could each see our new ride and our new lifestyle, then we were going to all go out to dinner.  Well, plans changed again!  We never went to dinner, cocktailing and noshing here instead all evening long.  It was truly a treat catching up with both friends, and we are so glad we got the chance to hang out and visit for the evening.

P.S.  Like my new haircut?  It’s really short!

  1. Your hair looks great, Laura! Just don’t let them give you the Fred cut!
Wow, you guys are really moving quickly and it sounds and looks like you are having a great time. Thanks so much for the updates and the pics. I know that you’ll have spectacular pics when you get out west, but the Midwest is pretty spectacular too, isn’t it? Love the green! I’m actually heading up the Mi coast with friends to Petsokey, Traverse City the beginning of Sept. I love that whole area (some good golf planned also!) All else is going well here. I am getting psyched for retirement, although I have had a few conversations with others re working (elsewhere) a few days a week. Need to spend more time with my dad too – 90 soon. Plenty to keep me out of trouble! Keep enjoying your travels!

    1. Hi Kathy – Great to hear from you! Sounds like some nice plans for you for the rest of the summer/fall in the Midwest – this truly is a lovely area, isn’t it? But, when you’re ready to venture out farther afield, come join us somewhere Out Here!!
