2015 Itinerary (second half of the year)

Our third half-year on the road… below is our route from July 1 through December 31, 2015.  Each stop on the map is an overnight (one or many nights) stop for us.

We began 2H15 up in the Olympic Peninsula in Washington so we could launch from Seattle and head up to Alaska where we spent five glorious weeks in six of the eight national parks up there.  After returning from Alaska, we visited two more national parks in Washington, Mount Rainier NP and North Cascades NP, spent a month in Yellowstone NP and Grand Teton NPs, caught the park we missed in Utah, Capitol Reef NP, and hit Petrified Forest NP.  In early October we routed to Albuquerque to take in the International Balloon Festival, made a return visit to Santa Fe, then made our way down to San Antonio where we spent Thanksgiving.  We left Charley at our friends’ place for the month of December while we returned to the Midwest in Toad to spend the holidays.  In this six month time period we tallied another 12 national park visits, bringing our total up to 42.

ALASKA!
As you can see on the map below, we used hotels in Anchorage as our home base and visited six of the eight national parks up there during this trip.  We will return to Alaska at the end of July 2016 to spend another month up there and visit the final two national parks which are north of Fairbanks and above the Arctic Circle.

It’s been another remarkable six months!
